DOVS, a Utah nonprofit organization, understands the global need for each woman to be able to choose when her family is complete. Our mission is to make permanent birth control affordable and accessible to all women, regardless of economic situation, health insurance coverage, geographic location or nationality. Tubal ligation (having your tubes tied) is the standard method of permanent female birth control. It is an expensive surgical procedure that is limited to patients who can afford it or have health insurance that covers it and who have access to a facility where it is performed. Many women in the U.S. and worldwide do not have access to tubal ligation and most clinics that serve the low-income or uninsured do not perform the procedure. Furthermore, tubal ligation can not be performed in a field setting due to the lack of a sterile, surgical environment, making it unavailable to most women in developing nations. DOVS is advancing the FDA approval process on a promising new medical device, the Daisy-clip® , that could revolutionize the field of permanent contraception. Learn more. |
